Futsal is attaining explosive popularity in Asia as a sport to be played especially among young generation due to multiple elements such as constant economic growth, population growth and enduring popularity of football. Especially in Southeast Asia where it is hot and humid, futsal is close to people’s lives with an example of it being introduced into the compulsory education curriculum as an indoor sport.
From the international viewpoint, it is in the middle of rapid development partly because the region is designated as crucial for the popularization of futsal by International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), with futsal management department established in the football association of each Asian Football Confederation (AFC) member country and the AFC club licensing criteria introduced in rapid succession.
Bardral URAYASU has moved ahead with the launch of the Asia Project inspired by the experience gained from a tour to Jakarta, Indonesia in April 2015, where having grasped the actual situation of futsal popularity and the challenges it faces.
